TDP retains Therlam
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: The absence of Congress in fray and the sympathy factor generated in the wake of the death of T. Jayaprakash (TDP) favoured his son Tentu Lakshmi Naidu, the Telugu Desam Party candidate, to win the Therlam Assembly seat in Vizianagaram district by a handsome margin.
Mr. Lakshmi Naidu won by a margin of 42,280 votes over his nearest rival, Reddi Lakshmi Naidu of the fledgling Lok Satta Party. Out of the 75,094 votes polled, the TDP nominee bagged 55,863 while the LSP candidate was far behind with 13,583 votes. His victory was along expected lines.
Mr. Tentu Lakshmi Naidu’s name will remain in the history books for the simple reason that he is the last candidate to win from Therlam constituency which has been merged with Bobbili in the delimitation exercise.
