TRS retains Alair by a slender margin

S. Ramu

BHONGIR (NALGONDA DT.): Thanks to the dissident activity in the Telugu Desam and Congress camps, Kududula Nagesh of TRS scraped through, in the fight for the Alair Assembly segment in Nalgonda district. While Mr. Nagesh polled 45,867 , his nearest rival Mothkupally Narasimhulu of the TD got 41,943 votes.

Despite the best efforts put by the Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Information Technology R. Damodar Reddy, the Congress nominee Shaga Lazarus polled only 22,357 votes. Mr. Nagesh, who was very sure of getting a huge majority, blamed his rivals for “spending money and supplying liquor” to prevent him from retaining the seat.
