Krishna is the overall champion

HYDERABAD: C.R.R. Krishna emerged the overall champion in the State Bank of Hyderabad — AP State junior chess championship organised by Cyberchess Academy here. Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Shiva Prasad, IPS, who was the chief guest, and Super Grandmaster Koneru Humpy gave away the prizes.

Final placings: Overall championship: 1. C. R. G. Krishna, 2. Mehar Chinna Reddy, 3. Sahaja Sri.

Age group winners: Under-16: 1. V. Bhavana, 2. V. Chaitanya. Under-14: 1. Chiman Prakash Reddy, 2. Deepthamsh Reddy. Under-12: 1. Joel V. Melvin, 2. V. Varun. Under-10: Pratyush Srivastava, 2. J. Sai Agni Jeevetesh. Under-8: 1. B. Harsh, 2. S. S. V. Aditya & Y. Hritik Reddy.

Young Hyderabad wins

Young Hyderabad scored a 3-0 win over Coronation Club in the B-Division hockey league championship at the AOC Grounds here. Muzaffar converted a penalty-corner in the first-half to give Young Hyderabad an early lead. In the second session, Altaf Ahmed and Quddus scored one each to complete the tally.

In another match, Cosmopolitan Club recorded a solitary goal win over Youth Association with Dushyanth being the scorer in the 15th minute.

Naveen triumphs

Naveen Kumar of Siddipet won the 1.5 km event in the under-12 boys’ category of the 11th AP summer road races organised by the Athletics Coaching Academy at BJR Statue near Lal Bahadur Stadium here.
