Rare feat



Balaji

A visually challenged boy from Salem Golden Gates Matriculation Higher Secondary School scored above 1000 in the Plus II examination.

Balaji, who had lost his vision in an accident at the age of five, scored 1080 marks out of 1200 with centum in accountancy.

He scored 176 marks in Tamil, 148 in English, 178 in Computer Science, 179 in Economics and 199 in Commerce. After studying in a school for visually impaired in Chennai up to Standard V, he joined in the Golden Gates MHSS. He got his lessons recorded in audio cassettes from the teachers and prepared for the examinations.

A total of 16 students from the school scored above 1100.

Shivani S. Shetty, who took French as the first language, emerged as the district topper.

In the Matriculation examinations, K. Ramesh from the school, who took French as first language, emerged as the district topper with 484 marks. A total of 26 students from the school scored above 450 marks. Collector N. Mathivanan congratulated Ramesh for his performance in the examinations.

Topper

Sri Vidhya Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Neikkarapatti in Salem, achieved 100 per cent result in the Matriculation examinations. E. Prema emerged as the school topper with a score of 477 marks. D. Abinaya came second with 471 marks and S. Balaji third with 467 marks. A total of 25 students scored above 400 marks.

M.C. Gnanasekaran, a Std IX student from the school, participated in the Indo-Sri Lanka Inter-State Tennis Ball Cricket Championship conducted by the Tamil Nadu Tennis Ball Cricket Association. School Chairman P. Ravi and Principal Uma Rajamanickam congratulated the students.
