AMC registers 63 p.c. votes

ARMOOR (NIZAMABAD DT.): About 63.99 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in the polling to the newly-formed Armoor Municipal Council on Monday. Polling in 23 wards in the town consisting of over 50,000 population went off peacefully.

The polling started on a brisk note with 20 per cent of voters casting their vote within first two hours. The trend continued till the end and a large number of women were seen queuing up before the polling stations to cast votes. The polling was conducted at 46 booths. A total of 119 candidates were in the fray and the Congress and the Telugu Desam fielded their nominees in all the wards, while the Telangana Rashtra Samithi contested only in 15 wards.
