NEW DELHI: Delhi University is working out a mechanism to establish a centralised platform to offer job placements to its students. “The University is thinking of a larger and bigger platform for placements. Right now, some colleges do have a placement cell but we are trying to work out to see if we can broaden the platform so that placements can happen in a centralised manner. “We are examining the possibility for extending it to both the undergraduate and post-graduate students,” said Dean of Students’ Welfare S. K. Vij. “As of now, the University is giving a serious thought to setting up a placement cell at a centralised level. But we are still working out the proposal. We are trying to figure out whether it has to be an in-house activity or we will have to get an external agency for the it,” he added. Welcoming the idea, Principal of Dyal Singh College Inder Bakshi said it would be better if placements were to happen in a centralised fashion rather than individual colleges doing it separately.
