Puducherry
PUDUCHERRY: The Joint Forum of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Unions and Associations of Non-Executives and Executives, Puducherry took out a rally on Monday to protest the proposal of the government to list the BSNL in stock market. The union, in a release, said the BSNL had Rs. four-lakh-crore worth assets and the proposal of selling 10 per cent share was unwarranted. The move would allow the entry of multinational companies, the union said. It said the government had unilaterally decided to list the BSNL in the stock market, close the telegraph offices and list out 20,000 staff under Voluntary Retirement Scheme. As a sign of protest, employees and officers of the BSNL unions took out a nationwide protest rally, the union said.
