Kanpur: A woman was set on fire allegedly by her female tenants following a scuffle over the issue of rent payment here late on Sunday night, police said. According to SSP A.K. Singh, 36-year-old Rama had rented out a part of her house to some female occupants few months back, but they were not paying the rent. On Sunday night, Rama asked for rent, where an altercation broke out between them. One of the tenants poured kerosene on her from behind and set her on fire, police said. The victim was admitted to a nearby hospital, where her condition was said to be serious. Police have registered a case and investigation was on, Mr. Singh added.
