Part of Volkswagen site sold for a song: TDP

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Telugu Desam Party on Monday alleged that after failing to bring Volkswagen to the Agnampudi site, the State Government sold part of it for a song to a firm owned by a realtor belonging to Kadapa.

Blaming Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana for playing a key role in “driving away” the German car major to Pune, TDP rural district president and former Minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy told reporters that 90 acres of land was recently sold to Indu Projects owned by one Narayana of Kadapa. He said the company had close contacts with the corridors of power.

‘Hush-hush’ manner

Mr. Murthy said the land was sold in a ‘hush-hush’ manner and it was awarded at Rs.2 lakh more than the upset price of Rs.2 crore per acre through sealed cover and asked why open auction was not done.
