THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi on Monday said that the Karnataka Assembly election was hijacked by the powerful mining lobby in Bellary district. Presenting the K. Vijayaraghavan Award for life-time achievement award in journalism here, Mr. Ravi said the real story of the Karnataka Assembly election was that of three brothers owning iron ore mines in Bellary district using their money power to lease out the candidates of a national party and later deciding who should rule Karnataka. “The Reddy brothers got the right to decide who should rule Karnataka when they took the candidates of a national party in five districts on lease and ensued their victory ,” Mr. Ravi said in a prepared speech. — Special Correspondent
