Rescued

Bangalore: A girl aged about 12, who was working as a domestic help in the house of an industrialist at Vijayanagar, has been rescued by a team of officials of the Labour Department, the police and NGO representatives.

The employer, who initially did not allow the team to enter the house, later relented and handed over the child to the team. The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee and is now lodged with the Government Girls’ Home. The case was taken up following a call made to Child Line, an emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. — Special Correspondent
