Tuticorin: Telecom employees belonging to the Joint Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations of Non Executives and Executives took out a rally wearing black badges here on Monday.

They urged the authorities not to go ahead with the proposed move to disinvest the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

I. Linga Bhaskar, district president of the forum, said that the statement released by the Ministry of Telecommunications on the web site of the Press Information Bureau a few days ago that the BSNL union leaders would respond positively to the suggestion for listing of the BSNL in the share market, was “misleading” and “totally false.”

“The employees are still sticking to their stance opposing the move for a 10 per cent disinvestment of BSNL,” he added. They also demanded that the move to introduce Voluntary Retirement Scheme to deal with the surplus staff should be dropped.
