End of a feast

The Indian Premier League cricket is over, at last. People can now return to their routine lives. Congratulations to the Rajasthan Royals, winning team.

The IPL Twenty20 series served the game well in that it provided a good platform for young Indian players to gain international exposure in their own backyard. The BCCI has done a commendable job, giving cricket lovers a memorable feast.

S.R. Badrinarayanan,

Chennai

The festive season of the shortened version of cricket has come to an end with the Rajasthan Royals clinching the win in a thriller. What a fantastic edition of the final! As for the IPL tournament, many initially doubted whether it would get recognition from the Indian fans. But the manner in which it was played attracted everyone and it received an overwhelming response. The tournament also helped India identify talented youngsters who, it is hoped, will do their best for Indian cricket.

S. Mahesh,

Tiruchi

After almost seven weeks of daily cricket we will, for sure, sorely miss the IPL matches. Full marks to the Chennai team for keeping its cool till the end. The Rajasthan Royals, dubbed the underdogs without any big ‘hero’ in the team, deserves to be congratulated on lifting the championship trophy. Money and publicity don’t always help.

T.V. Suresh,

Coimbatore

The most important lesson from the tournament is: team spirit is the winner in any game that involves more than one player. Indians find it difficult to place the team’s interest above theirs. Be it cricket or hockey, we tend to project individuals. Fans grant them a demigod status. Now that we have seen how bonding among teammates produces excellent results, we hope the spirit will become part of our sporting culture.

R. Gopal,

Chennai
