Improve living conditions: CPI(M)

DEMANDS: CPI(M) cadres staging a demonstration in Tuticorin on Monday.

Tuticorin: Members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a demonstration here on Monday.

They urged the district administration to better the living conditions of people belonging to Arundatiyar community residing at Kumaragiri panchayat.

According to them, the road leading to the burial ground set up at the village for the community should be strengthened and widened. Steps should be taken to prevent sewage water from flowing into colonies in the panchayat where Arundatiyars were predominant.

Adequate number of stormwater drains should be constructed, keeping in mind rainy season.

Ravi Tagore, Pudukottai unit secretary, led the agitation. K. S. Arjunan, town secretary, B. Pooviraj, district secretary of the DYFI, T. Kumaravel, district secretariat member of the party, among others, spoke.
