Beijing: Two Indians facing the firing squad after being convicted of smuggling narcotics by a Chinese court have been granted consular access. Aksar Miyan and Hussain Mydeen, both hailing from Tamil Nadu, were handed down the death sentence by the Intermediate People’s Court in Zhuohai in August last year. “We have received today [Monday] an intimation from the High People’s Court of Guangdong province that an official can meet both on June 6,” sources at the Indian consulate told PTI. An official from the Consulate General of India in Guangzhou would meet both Aksar and Hussain and “take their statements,” the sources said. — PTI
