CSB net profit touches Rs.36.56 crore

Marks an increase of 92 per cent

Thrissur: The net profit of Catholic Syrian Bank, headquartered in Thrissur, has grown by 92 per cent to touch Rs.36.56 crore in 2007-08.

The board recommended a 30 per cent dividend, the highest ever of the bank, a press release issued by the bank on Monday said.

The net interest income of the bank went up to Rs.164.09 crore. The return on assets increased from 0.37 per cent last year to 0.64 per cent.

The percentage of net NPA to net advances dropped from 1.98 per cent to 1.61 per cent. The capital adequacy of the bank was 10.87 per cent against the Reserve Bank of India-stipulated nine per cent. The bank’s deposits went up to Rs.5,318 crore as against Rs.4,749 crore in the previous year.

Advances grew to Rs.3,314 crore from Rs.3,013 crore. The operating profits increased to Rs.73.48 crore, the release said.
