KOCHI: India’s V.R. Naren Kumar was handed a surprise top ten spot at the Acropolis Rally of Greece late on Sunday after Estonian Martin Rauam, the runner-up, was excluded from the Production Cars World Rally Championship results after the post-event scrutiny. Rauam’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 was found to be fitted with front brakes which did not conform to the car’s homologation specifications and all the drivers behind him were given a one-place promotion in the revised results which carried Naren, who finished 11th in his PWRC debut to the 10th spot. The discs on Rauam’s car had different cooling vanes and were each 624 grams lighter than the homologated items.
