KEA to allot revised ranks for II PU students

Document verification for NCC quota today

BANGALORE: The all-important Common Entrance Test admission counselling began here on Monday with the Karnataka Examinations Authority completing the admission and screening procedures for 130 students who had sought admissions into professional colleges under the “Physically Disabled” category.

Six medical seats, two dental seats and 100 engineering seats remain vacant this year. These students were competing for 13 seats in medical colleges, two seats in dental colleges, six in the alternative medicine and 192 seats in engineering colleges, all under the “physically disabled” category.

Eligible

Of the 130 students who appeared before a board of medical specialists, 110 were found eligible, a KEA press release said. Medical examinations occupied the first half of the day. It was an anxious lot of students and parents who gathered at the KEA premises to apply and undergo medical tests which are mandatory for qualifying to the category. “I am sitting here since morning and I am hoping this procedure will get over fast. My rank was not as good as expected but I am confident of making it at least to the engineering list,” says an anxious Seethalakshmi from Hubli, who says she would like to be a doctor.

The document verification of students applying under the National Cadet Corps will be conducted on Tuesday and the seat allotment procedure will take place on Wednesday.

The KEA is expediting its process of allotting revised ranks to students who are submitting their II Pre-University Course marks after re-evaluation.

“We are giving them the next couple of days to apply and submit their revised marks to us. We will allot new ranks to them at the earliest. It will not take us more than a day or maximum two to respond to them,” said Syed Jamal, Administrative Officer, KEA.

The KEA is getting more such cases and is open to accepting applications and allotting them fresh ranks for the next couple of days.

“This is important for us. My marks have gone up by seven and I rushed here to give the information. Even a few marks means a large improvement,” said Pragya, a student from Bangalore.
