Shimla: Former Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday charged the Prem Kumar Dhumal Government with tapping his phones and deploying CID personnel around his residence to keep an eye over his political activities. “The BJP Government is getting my mobile phone as well landline phones at Shimla, Rampur and my native place Sarahan tapped to keep an eye over my political movement,” Mr. Singh, the five times Chief Minister of the State, said. ‘CID keeping vigil’The veteran Congress leader also alleged that CID personnel had been posted around his residence in Shimla and elsewhere to keep round-the-clock track of people meeting him and his activities. “These were carried out by some police officers trying to impress the CM for getting favours,” he said. “He (Mr. Dhumal) did the same during his previous tenure as CM of the State from 1998-2003 and is repeating the same this time too,” the Congress leader alleged. Mr. Singh said the BJP Government could not corner him by indulging in personal vendetta against him. “I am ready to face any kind of inquiry,” he added. -- PTI
