KOCHI: Many of the patients who underwent joint replacement of the knee or hip in the 1970s are now facing the prospect of revision surgeries as the implants are now wearing out due to non-durable materials used in the making of the implant and in some cases, due to improper placement during surgery. Drawing on its 35 years of experience in the field and backed with cutting edge research, Chennai-based MIOT Hospitals, the pioneer of joint replacement surgeries in India, is launching a unique concept in Kochi — the “Joint for Life” programme which provides a solution to the traumatic prospect of revision surgeries. The programme aims to bring together the science of joint replacement with surgical expertise in precision placement and offers the promise of a joint for one’s lifetime for the benefit of patients. In this regard, MIOT Hospitals will be holding a seminar “Joint for Life — replacement surgeries that last a lifetime” on June 6 at Taj Residency, Ernakulam. The programme will be inaugurated by Dr. C.K. Ramachandran, formerly of Calicut Medical College; Dr. P.V.A. Mohandas, managing director of MIOT Hospitals; Dr. Prithvi Mohandas, director, Hip Arthroplasty and Dr. Barry Rozario, director, Centre for Joint Replacement Surgery. Computer Navigation will share details of the programme with the audience. For further information, mail your queries to enq@miothospitals.com or log onto www.miothospitals.com
