DMK cadres celebrate

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) celebrated the 85th birthday of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi by organising blood and eye donation camps on Tuesday.

The party in a release said that free dhotis and saris were distributed to 85 elderly persons at Mannadipet and free note books were given to students at Thirubhuvanai.

The cadres also distributed food and sweets to persons at Nellithope, Bussy, Kasukadai and Villianur constituencies, the release said.

Around 50 persons donated blood at the Government General Hospital.

Earlier, State convener of the DMK’s Puducherry unit R.V. Janakiraman, along with party leaders, met Mr. Karunanidhi in Chennai and greeted him, the release added.
