NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D. Srinivas on Tuesday said the State unit of the party would be reorganised right down to the block level soon. He also indicated that no Congressman found to be sabotaging the prospects of the party would be spared disciplinary action whatever be his/her stature. Responding to questions on whether the party was contemplating action against Telangana Development Board Chairman V. Purushottam Reddy, who did not cooperate with the party during campaigning for the recent byelections, Mr. Srinivas said without referring to anyone in particular: “There is a process and action will be taken against him if anyone is found guilty of indiscipline.” “Whatever be the stature of the leader, disciplinary action will be taken if evidence is available. How can we let people who sabotage the party’s prospects go unpunished? But, there is procedure and it has to be followed so that there is no scope for challenging the action.” As for Mr. Reddy, the PCC president, who met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said it was out of his purview as he was a member of the All-India Congress Committee and holds an office of Cabinet Minister rank. And he was quick to clarify that no complaints had been received till date against Mr. Reddy for his ‘non-cooperation’. On Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao, the PCC president said he had destroyed the Telangana movement. “Had he been committed to it, he would have coordinated with others from the region, including myself, to build momentum for separate Statehood. He was selfish and wanted the credit to himself thereby resulting in such a situation.” Stating that the Congress was committed to Telangana, Mr. Srinivas said his party was open to having an electoral understanding with TRS .
