Minister’s resignation accepted

Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar on Tuesday accepted the resignation of the State Minister for Public Health, Family Welfare, Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation, Ajay Vishnoi.

Mr. Vishnoi’s resignation was forwarded to the Governor by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Tuesday morning.

Mr. Chauhan was in New Delhi in connection with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive meeting on Monday when Mr. Vishnoi submitted his resignation. He returned to Bhopal later in the night.

Mr. Vishnoi resigned from the State Cabinet after an Income Tax raid on his brother’s residence. The I-T search and seizure operation began last Friday.

After submitting his resignation, Mr. Vishnoi left for Jabalpur, where he was accorded a huge welcome.

After Mr. Vishnoi’s exit from the State Cabinet, political circles here are agog with rumours of a Cabinet expansion within the next two or three days.
