dated June 4, 1958: Peace parleys in Beirut

A new round of parleys was initiated in Beirut on June 2 by the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Adelo Osserian and some deputies, in a bid to break the three-week-old crisis in the Lebanon which is virtually in the throes of a civil war with Government troops fighting rebels. Mr. Osserian had a joint meeting on June 2 with President Camille Chamoun and the Army Commander Fouad Chehab.
