SIT student first in six-minute run

TIRUCHI: To motivate youngsters to join army, the Tiruchi-unit of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) conducted a ‘six-minute run’ at the Anna Stadium here on Tuesday.
The participants had to cover a distance of one mile in six minutes, which, according to the organisers, is one of the qualifying norms for gaining entry into the army. The event saw participation of more than 100 youngsters from various parts of the district.
C. Rajesh, a student of Seshasayee Institute of Technology came first and A. John Prince of Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School finished runner-up. M. Subramanian secured the third spot. Collector T. Soundiah said that serving the nation was a great honour.
