Inter-State athletics championship

Madurai: The 48th Velammal National Inter-State senior athletics championship will be organised jointly by the Tamil Nadu Athletics Association and the Madurai District Athletic Association at the MGR Race Course Stadium in Madurai from June 15 to 18.

This meet assumes significance as it will be the final selection trials for the Beijing Olympics. More than 800 athletes will be participating in the meet.

Anju Bobby George, Krisna Punia, Susmitha Singha Roy, M. Renjith and Vikas Gowda will be seen in action. Velammal group of Institutions will be the title sponsor for this championship. — Sports Correspondent
