Krishna Bhupathi delighted

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Mr. C.G. Krishna Bhupathi, father of Mahesh, expressed happiness over the decision of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi to pair up for the Beijing Olympics.

Mr. Bhupathi Sr. told The Hindu here, “First of all I want to thank Mr. Anil Khanna for setting up that meeting and bringing the two together and thrash out the differences. He had done the right thing by insisting that India fields its best team for the Olympics, which is obviously Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.

“As far as Mahesh was concerned, there had been no controversy as such, but Mahesh had always insisted that they go well prepared. So, what needed to be sorted out was the preparations aspect. Mahesh had kept himself fit and worked hard over the past few months to get ready for Olympics and he, more than anybody else, knows how important it is for him to play with Leander, which is the best for himself and for India. I hope they would play few tournaments together now after Wimbledon and go fighting fit to Beijing and bring home a medal that we all cherish.”
