Reach out to students, KV school teachers told

TAMBARAM: Reach out to students in a humane manner and address the grievances of parents: these were some of the important pieces of advice that teachers of Kendriya Vidyala schools received on Monday.

A 12-day Inservice Course for Trained Graduate Teachers in Social Science for a batch of 34 teachers of KV Schools from Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati and Silchar regions concluded at KV on the Director General of Quality Assurance premises, Meenambakkam on Monday. Speaking at the valedictory function, E. Prabhakar, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Chennai Region, reminded teachers of the importance of reaching out to students.

And when parents contacted them to know why their children were not performing as well, teachers should address their grievances completely, Mr.Prabhakar said.

Newsletter launched

Mr. Prabhakar also launched ‘Pallav,’ a quarterly newsletter for primary classes that would be circulated in all 67 KV schools of Chennai Region, that included Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Kavaratti.

The objective of the newsletter was to highlight “best practices” followed in some schools. Heads of institutions and teachers would get to know about innovations being implemented in other schools. There were nearly 36,000 students in primary classes in Chennai Region, he added. Radha Mahalakshmi, Principal of KV DGQA and coordinator for Pallav, was also present.
