PCB competitions: names of winners announced

GUNTUR: The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Guntur region, organised competitions for schoolchildren in five different aspects of protecting environment and reducing pollution here on Tuesday and announced the names of the winners. They will receive prizes at Stalls’ Girls High School in Nararampalem on Thursday.

The Environmental Engineer of Guntur region, D. Ravindrababu, said: “we must cultivate a habit of producing lower levels of carbon in all aspects of life in tune with the UNEP slogan of ‘Kick the Habit: Towards Low Carbon Economy’ for current year’s World Environment Day Celebrations.”

An ‘environmental walk’ will be organised from Gandhi Park to Stalls Girls’ High School with 300 children on June 5. The following were the winners of various competitions: essay-writing -- K. Sandhya, A. Sravani Devi, V. Thanmayi and M. Lalitha; drawing -- E. Jitendranath Reddy, C. Chaitraka Reddy, P. Sai Lakshmi Sowmya, G. Lakshmi Swaraj, and V. Reshmi; elocution -- V. Thanmayi, Ch.V. Vihitha, Ravindra Babu, C. Chiatrika; slogans -- V. Thanmayi, A. Sravani Devi and K. Sandhya; songs -- N. Sai Pranavee, T.R. Chandini, K. Lakshmi Mrudula and G.L.S. Saranya.
