VISAKHAPATNAM: Last year’s winner West Godavari blanked Prasakam 12-0 and runner-up Visakhapatnam beat Kurnool 4-1 in their inaugural pool league matches of the 26th Andhra State junior inter-district hockey tournament at the DSA stadium, Kakinada on Tuesday. Krishna entered the semifinals winning both its games in pool B. Host East Godavari was off to a dazzling start with a 12-0 win over Prakasam. Satyanarayana emerged as the top scorer of the day with four goals in this match. The results (league matches): Pool A: East Godavari 12 (Satyanarayana 4, Durga Prasad 3, Appa Rao 2, Naga Srinu, Mastan and Avinash one each) bt Prakasam 0. West Godavari 10 (Sunil Kumar 3, Ramesh 2, Pavan Kumar, Kiran Babu, Mahaboob Subhani, Nagaraju and Nagendra Kumar one each) bt Prakasam 0. Pool B: Krishna 2 (Suchal two goals) bt Chittoor 0. Krishna 1 (Abeed Basha) bt Guntur 0. Pool C: Kadapa 2 (Ratna Paul and Sandeep Raju one each) bt Nellore 0.
