VISAKHAPATNAM: Bodies of three CPI (Maoist) members Santosh, Sujata and Ashok, who were killed in an encounter with the police near Gunukurayi in G.K. Veedhi mandal on May 28, were buried at Narsipatnam burial ground on Wednesday. Body of another Maoist Basayya Kamaraj alias Kranti Ranadev was handed over to his brothers, who took it to their native village Sangamvalasa under Korra panchayat in Dumbriguda mandal in an ambulance provided by Project Officer of ITDA, Paderu. Ranadev’s brothers Bisai Bhimdhar, who is Sarpanch of Korra, and Damodar Tilak and cousins Dhananjay and Murthy along with seven others came to Narsipatnam to take the body. They raised slogans in support of armed revolution has they took away the body. Meanwhile, in a letter sent to some newspapers late on Tuesday night, CPI (Maoist) east division secretary Jagadeesh said the four Maoists died during the exchange of fire and the Maoists before retreating from the scene of exchange of fire, had buried them with revolutionary honours. Mr. Jagadeesh said the four died while fighting the police after an ambush was laid for the police party. The Maoists took away an AK 47 riffle and four kitbags from the police. According to the letter Kranti Ranadev was injured in the attack and while the other three were trying to save him, one of the police constables who fell in a bush after receiving injuries, fired at all the four. Kranti Ranadev died while other Maoists killed the constable (R. Anil Kumar) but could not save the three injured who died due to excessive bleeding. Later all the four were buried. The Maoist leader warned that the party would take revenge for killing four of its members and that the Congress leaders responsible for the encounter would pay a heavy price. He also gave a call to the people to oppose bauxite mining. One of the Maoists killed in the encounter Kanakayya alias Santosh was native of Kondapaka village in Medak district. He was transferred to Andhra Orissa Border Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist) this year.
