GLAD MOMENT: Minister for Dairy Development U.Mathivanan inaugurating the Madras Rotary Central Vidyarambam Nursery and Primary School in Nagapattinam on Wednesday. NAGAPATTINAM: Minister for Dairy Development U.Mathivanan on Wednesday appealed to non-governmental and voluntary organisations to continue their noble service in the cause of providing good education to the poor. The Minister, who inaugurated a nursery and primary school at the Annai Sathya Government orphanage at Samanthanpettai here, started by the Rotary Club of Madras Central and Vidyarambam Trust, Chennai, supported by the Nagapattinam district administration, appreciated the services rendered by the Rotary Club of Madras Central and Vidyarambam Trust for their efforts in starting the school in the tsunami-hit area. Mr Mathivanan said that parents in Nagapattinam town showed keen interest and admitted about 100 children in the school and pointed out that the Social Welfare department had already appointed two teachers for this school. The Minister also distributed sewing machines to two beneficiaries under the Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar scheme and marriage grant of Rs.15,000 each to two couples under Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar scheme at the function. K.S.Kandasamy, District Revenue Officer (Tsunami Relief), presided over the function.
