TIRUMALA: The one-day Sanathana Dharma Prachara Sadassu attended by over 50 religious leaders, including several Peethadhipathis and Mathadhipatis from all over the country, on Thursday urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to step up its dharma prachara activities in the neighbouring States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Briefing the media persons about the deliberations of the religious convention, TTD Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy said that the meeting also endorsed the view to constitute district dharmik councils in both the States to further strengthen the dharma prachara activities. One vehicle shall be provided to each council and the recurring expenses of the vehicles shall be borne by the TTD. Special projectThe activities of the TTD’s newly-floated Sri Venkateswara Bhakti channel which at present is confined to the State alone would also be extended to these States. To provide required research, publication material and training support to the dharmik councils, a special project -- Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Samrakshana Sanghatan -- shall be taken up. It shall monitor the implementation of the recommendations made by the sadassu besides strengthening the councils. Bhajan cassettes, books and photos of the Lord shall be supplied to all the councils and organise periodical spiritual contests among the village level mandals. The councils should also ensure that at least one bhajana mandali is attached to every temple even in the remotest village in the State. It was also resolved to form autonomous Rajya Dharma Parishad and zilla dharma parishad as recommended by the Justice Rama Joi’s committee and strengthen the existing Archaka system at the grass root village level.
