Luv Puri

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled a plot to kill Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Ropar-based religious leader Baba Bhaniarewala.

“We have arrested three militants of the newly formed outfit of Panj Pardhani Group (PPG) of the Khalistan Zindabad Force during an ambush on the Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch highway,” Deputy Inspector-General Police Farooq Khan told The Hindu.

The plan was masterminded by Pakistan-based Khalistan Zindabad Force chief Ranjeet Singh Neeta, wanted by the Indian government in cases of terrorism.

The arrested militants were identified as Malkeet Singh, Surjeet Singh and Harbans Singh, all from the Barnala area of Punjab province.
