TIRUPUR: More than 300 students of Government Middle School at Pollikalipalayam in Pongalur Panchayat Union boycotted classes for the second consecutive day on Thursday in protest against the transfer of headmaster G. Subramaniam. The parents wanted to reinstat him. ‘Dedicated’“He is a dedicated teacher and has been struggling hard to improve the standards of the school. There has been good progress in the last two years. We oppose this arbitrary transfer,” a parent said. The headmaster was instrumental in introducing uniforms to students. He started organising annual day celebrations after a gap of several years, said another parent. The efforts by the officials from Tirupur and Pongalur to pacify the agitating parents and students went in vain as the parents were not ready to give up their demand. Education department officials promised to post another ‘better headmaster’ but the parents refused to heed to it.
