Fishermen stage protest

PUDUCHERRY: Fishermen from several coastal villages rallying under the banner of Coalition for the Livelihood Rights of Coastal Communities, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Thursday staged a demonstration in front of the Head Post Office here to protest the Union government’s decision to implement the Coastal Management Zone (CMZ) Act.

The protestors raised slogans against the Union government for not consulting the fishermen before finalising the report on CMZ. They appealed to the government to immediately withdraw its decision to implement the CMZ Act.
