Concern over fuel use

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The quantum of fossil fuels burnt during the past 30 years alone is equivalent to that burnt during the preceding 300 years. This amply explains the acceleration in the rate of consumption of fuel by humanity, said C.R. Surendranathan, Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, Kerala.

He was addressing a seminar on health safety and environment, organised by the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) here on Thursday, as part of the World Environment Day celebrations. E. Nandakumar, executive director, BPCL Kochi Refinery, inaugurated the programme. K.E. George, chairman, IIChE, presided over the function.
