Congress bags two more municipalities

HYDERABAD: Congress added two more municipalities – Badvel in Kadapa district and Armoor in Nizamabad district -- to its tally.

In Badvel, it won 19 out of the 26 municipal wards leaving the TDP with a tally of six and the CPI one. The CPI (M) and BJP drew a blank.

In Armoor, the TDP gave the ruling party a tough fight, denying it a simple majority.

Congress bagged 11 wards in the 23-member municipality followed by TDP with eight, while the BJP and independents secured two seats each. Congress has to take the support of two rebels for getting its candidate elected as municipal chairman.
