Vaiko’s appeal to Prime Minister

CHENNAI: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate steps to bring the body of Katturaja, who died in a Singapore prison on May 22.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr.Vaiko said Katturaja of Nemmeli North village in Thanjavur district went to Singapore through a travel agency in 1997. He was arrested by Singapore police three months ago. On May 22, he was found dead under mysterious circumstances. When his relatives contacted the Indian Embassy, it confirmed the death but did not take steps to send the body here.
Volunteers of the MDMK will stage demonstrations in all district headquarters condemning the increase in prices of petroleum products. Mr. Vaiko will lead the demonstration in Chennai , according to a party press release.
