17 more MLAs take oath

BANGALORE: Except five, all members of the Legislative Assembly took oath on Wednesday and Thursday.

The former Chief Minister and Janata Dal (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy, former Ministers Bandeppa Kashempur, G. Parameshwar and V. Somanna were among the 17 members who took oath on Thursday.

As many as 202 members were administered oath on the first day of the 13th Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

The five members who did not take oath were H.D. Revanna, Satish Jarkiholi, S.R. Ramesh, Santosh S. Lad and Zameer Ahmed Khan. The members were not present in the House.

Mr. Kumaraswamy took oath in the name of god.

Soon after completion of the oath-taking ceremony, the members unanimously elected Jagadish Shettar of the BJP as Speaker.
