State Budget in July
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The Government will present a full-fledged State Budget (2008-09) in the first week of July.
Addressing presspersons after a Cabinet meeting here on Thursday, Minister V.S. Acharya said as the State was under President’s rule, Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had sought a “vote on account” for the first six months of the financial year 2008-09, in Parliament on March 10.
The Minister said the Budget would include many of the welfare schemes the party promised during the election campaign. Dr. Acharya ruled out reduction in the sales and entry taxes now, and said changes in the tax slabs would be introduced only during the Budget session.
The Cabinet also discussed the nomination of an Anglo-Indian to the Assembly.
