NWDA for eco study

Sirsi: National Water Development Agency (NWDA), under the Ministry of Water Resources, is planning to conduct an eco-system study with special referenc to Uttar Kannada district.

In a letter written by NWDA to Anant Ashishar, secretary of Bedthi-Aghanshini Kolla Samrakshana Samiti, Sirsi, released to the press by the samiti, it said that a seminar was held to oppose Bedthi-Varada river link. The samiti has stated that several protests were held in Sirsi, Bangalore, Udupi and Shimoga opposing the river link project and experts report also had stated the possible dangers if the link project was taken. — Correspondent
