Air Force officials organised a health camp at Bellora near Bidar BIDAR: The Air Force Station, Bidar, has taken the initiative to develop Bellora village close to its boundary wall here. To begin with, a health camp was organised in the village on Wednesday. The Air Force officials have received directions from Bala Iyer, wife of Air Marshall V. K. Iyer, in this regard. Ms. Iyer is the regional president of Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association. The health camp jointly organised by Medicare Centre and Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association (AFWWA) local chapter and was inaugurated by Ms. Iyer during her visit to Bellora on Wednesday. Senior Medical Officer and Group Captain Pradeep Kharbanda told The Hindu on Thursday that Bellora was selected as there was scope for development in the village. The Air Force officials had visited Chidri and Jaminstanpur located in close proximity to the AFS, Bidar. Mr. Pradeep said the health camp had created a good rapport between Air Force officials and the people of the village. Although the village was close to the Air Force Station, the people had kept away from it. The focus of the health camp was on oral hygiene, malaria control, malnutrition, and anaemia. A screening was done on common diseases for the people, the medical officer said. Besides, using models, villagers were told on child care, family planning methods, nutritional aspects, breast feeding and the response to the health camp was overwhelming, he said. According to Mr. Pradeep, “the process for concentrating on developing the facilities at the village has started and will continue.” The officials of the Air Force would keep visiting the village and take note of the areas of development such as facilities at schools besides improving basic amenities. The children at the village expressed their desire to have a close look at the aircraft, he said.
