This Day That Age
For research in indigenous system of medicine, the Government of India have made a provision of Rs.22.80 lakhs for the year 1958-59, says an official press release. In Ayurveda, a grant of Rs.177,000 has been sanctioned to the Central Institute of Research in indigenous system of medicine at Jamnagar. A sum of Rs.10,000 was sanctioned to the Andhra Pradesh Provincial Homoeopathic Medical College, Gudivada. The Tibbia College, Muslim University, Aligarh, has been given a grant of Rs.22,800 while the Nisargopachar Ashram, Uruli Kanchan, Poona, got a grant of Rs.33,000 for research work in nature cure. An amount of Rs.7,500 has also been sanctioned for the purchase of the publication, ‘Charaka Samhita’, published by the Gulab Kunverba Ayurvedic Society, Jamnagar, in six volumes for distribution to Ayurvedic colleges for their use. ‘Charaka Samhita’ is a very important Ayurvedic publication and many sets of it have gone to U.S.A., U.K., Australia and other parts of the world.
