NEW DELHI: A fluent 95 by Amardeep Sonkar helped Haryana Colts to a five-wicket victory over Vidhya Jain Academy in the pre-quarterfinals of the 35th all-India Goswami Ganesh Dutt memorial cricket tournament at the St. Stephen’s College ground here on Thursday.

Invited to bat, Vidhya Jain Academy rattled 254 thanks to a fine 130 by Agnesh Surya, who hammered 10 fours and four sixes.

In reply, openers Amardeep Sonkar and Vishal Saini (30) put on 72 to provide a fine start for Haryana Colts, and the position was consolidated by a 112-run partnership for the third wicket between Sonkar and Abir Lavasa (68).

In the quarterfinals, Haryana Colts will meet Collage Group on June 10.

The scores: Vidhya Jain Academy 254 in 39.2 overs (Agnesh Surya 130) lost to Haryana Colts 258 for five in 39.2 overs (Amardeep Sonkar 95, Abir Lavasa 68).
