Take steps to prevent women, child trafficking, CP tells policemen
Special Correspondent
VISAKHAPATNAM: Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal directed the police officials to take stringent measures to prevent the trafficking in women and children. He released a poster against trafficking in women and children at the District Police Office on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he directed the district police officials to keep a vigil on the movement of people under suspicious circumstances at railway stations and bus stands. They should also keep an eye on children and women going with men under suspicious circumstances and interrogate them, if necessary.
Mr. Sabharwal directed the officials to strengthen the vigilance committees in the rural areas. Cases of missing persons should be registered and efforts should be made to trace them at the earliest. This could sometimes help in stopping trafficking of women and children. He said all persons connected with the crime should be punished.
