Indefinite fast

Nearly 20 members of the Airport Authority of India Employees Union (AAEU) continued their indefinite fast on Thursday that began late on Wednesday night.

The agitators, led by their Branch Secretary Morris Roy, squatted in front of the newly-constructed residential quarters for the Airport Director and accused the airport administration of having failed to take care of the staff welfare.

The agitators pointed out that amenities continued to be at the lowest as far as the staff quarters were concerned.

Urging the Airport Authority of India to step in with remedial measures, the AAEU members said that failing to hammer out a solution, the AAEW would be forced to call for a strike by the AAI employees in the entire Southern Region.

However, the regular operations at the Airport remained normal.

Regional Secretary of AAEU, E.R. Ramesh flew down to Coimbatore for holding talks
