Rice seized
Sleuths of the Vigilance and Enforcement Department on Thursday conducted a raid on a rice godown at Autonagar and a fair price shop at Gunadala and seized 302 quintals of rice meant for the public distribution from the two places.
Following a tip-off, the sleuths raided the godown of Srilakshmi Traders at Autonagar and found 112.2 quintals of rice meant for public distribution through fair price shops repacked in labelled bags and ready for marketing. During questioning, the Vigilance and Enforcement officials found that the rice was supplied from the fair price shop located at Gunadala. They rushed there for stock verification.
They seized the stock and the register before booking a case against the dealer and the trader.
