Hands up: Members of the Gujjar community staging a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Thursday. NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Gujjar Sangharsh Samiti organised a “Mahapanchayat” of the Gujjar community at Jantar Mantar here on Thursday under the leadership of its chief patron Ramvir Singh Bidhuri to chalk out its agenda for the coming days. Senior Gujjar leaders unanimously passed several resolutions including the announcement of a “Bharat bandh” within the next five days and a foot-march by members of the Gujjar community to Rajasthan after June 10. Ex-gratia announcedThe leaders also decided that the Gujjar society en masse would not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections. Mr. Bidhuri announced that the Gujjar leadership would provide an ex-gratia sum of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of each person killed in the recent police firing in Rajasthan.
