NSF invites applications for student scholarships

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The North South Foundation (NSF) has invited applications for financial assistance from students who excelled in the recent public test but could not afford to pursue further studies.

It will offer scholarships for engineering, medicine, polytechnic, agriculture, agriculture engineering, and veterinary studies.

A foundation release said uniform eligibility criteria would be applied to identify the poor and meritorious students across its 13 chapters in the country. “Because of limited funds, only the most eligible students will be considered for scholarships,” the release said.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria include:

1) A family income of less than Rs. 45,000 (Rs. 32,000 in rural areas);

2) top 5 per cent ranks in the Common Entrance Tests with a relaxation of 5 per cent to rural and girl students in ranks;

3) preference to the rank of first attempt;

4) students of government or government-aided schools only;

5) first year students in the course of study chosen; and

6) students not eligible for other scholarships.

Application forms

The short-listed candidates, along with their parents, will be interviewed for final selection.

Application forms for Andhra Pradesh can be had from D. Seetharamiah, Room No.316, 3rd floor, Model House, Panjagutta, Hyderabad 500082, by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope with the rank card of the CET held this year.

Deadline

The deadline for filing applications is July 15.

The NSF, based in the United States, has granted over 3,500 scholarships in the past 19 years and has chapters in 13 States.
